The San Ġwann FC pitches were buzzing with activity recently as the Zazu Football School (ZFS) organised their annual penalty shoot-out to mark the end of their main 2011/12 schedule.

The event attracted over 100 school members as well as parents who also vied for some of the attractive gifts on offer by taking part in a shoot-out for adults.

The ZFS, established by current Malta U-21 coach Ray Farrugia seven years ago, has continued to consolidate its reputation as one of the leading private footballing organisations on the islands.

“Another season has gone by and I’m glad to say that it’s been another successful one for us,” Farrugia said in a statement.

“The participation levels were in keeping with previous years. We have a team of dedicated coaches as well as active players to maintain the high training standards we have set over the years.

“The fun factor is very important because we want the kids to learn by doing things they enjoy doing. The majority of them have been with us for various years now and their progress is remarkable.

“A good number of current and former students are among the most exciting prospects of Maltese football and this is a source of inspiration for all of us at the school.”

Farrugia said success owes a lot to the support of parents and the sponsors.

“This might sound like a clichè but the truth is that, without the support of the parents and the sponsors, it would be almost impossible to keep the school going,” Farrugia said.

The ZFS are now preparing for their summer school which kicks off on Tuesday. One may obtain more details by phoning 9949-1594.

The ZFS is supported by Peugeot, the main sponsors, TeamSport, Assikura, David Vella Trading, Gram, Munchies Restaurant, Gaba, Joe Sammut & Co. and Daikin.
