In the past years the Maltese Sports scene saw a great influx of Martial Arts. Among these the disicpline of Kickboxing is making the greatest hit. This is what Daniel Żarha did when he won his third World Kickboxing Network (WKN) Title Belt.

Żahra, a Ying Yang Kickboxing member, competed with the Holland based Thai Boxer Muhamed Jama. This match was presided over by Adrian Axisa, founder of the Maltese Kickboxing Association (MKBA), and the World Kickboxing Network (WKN). Both athletes participated and won their category in the Kickboxing World Club that was held in Malta last September.

The Żarha-Jama match offered a great spectacle of Kickboxing and Thaiboxing. For this four round bout, K1 rules, where no leg protection is worn and the athletes are allowed to use knee techniques, were applied. Jama, has a record of 27 fights and holder of Euro and World titles, is a semi-professional Class B Thai boxer.

Jama had a height advantage over Żarha but both athletes were evenly balanced through all the rounds. Jama more than once applied knee striking techniques. Żahra on the other hand put his opponent under pressure with his spinning kicks. In the end, the victory was awarded to Żahra on points.

With this win Żahra became the first Maltese Kickboxer that won a K1 match. Togehter with three other Maltese Kickboxers, all of them Ying Yang Kckboxing Club members, won thier WKN World Title back in September. In 2007 Master Noel Mercieca, founder of the Ying Yang Club trained Reuben Azzopardi to be the first Maltese that took part in a WKN competition.
