APS Bank – Under 15 Knock Out – Preliminary Round Second Leg

Sirens qualify for First Round Proper

Kalkara   0

Sirens    3

Sirens have qualified for the First Round Proper with an aggregate of 5-1 after they won their first leg game 2-1 and they will cross swords against Dingli.

The final score line clearly indicated that sirens were the much better outfit during the game as they created much more actions than Kalkara as they dominated both periods of the game.

Kalkara created the first action as Gabriel Abela was fouled on the left flank and Sirens keeper Jeremy Cauchi saved the free kick shot by the same player, and from the on Sirens created many actions keeping the Kalkara defenders very busy.

Gilbert Pisani released Kyle Chircop in the area but he drove slightly out. Isaac Camilleri pounced on a loose ball outside the area and from his hard drive the ball missed the bar by inches. The same player then had a shot saved by Kalkara keeper Justin Delia after a cross from the right by Andre’ Calleja. The hard-working Isaac Camilleri then floated a perfect high ball in the area from a free kick after he was fouled and the ball was cleared to a corner.

Sirens resumed with their pressing and mounted two more actions. After a well-taken flag kick by Isaac Schembri the ball landed on the bar from a header by Kyle Chircop and Isaac Camilleri served Jurgen Spiteri with a through ball in the area and a defender cleared the ball to a corner.

Kalkara created the last action before the break when Tyrone Vella released Tylor Bezzina on the left flank who after advancing Cauchi saved his shot from the edge of the area.

Sirens created the first action after the resumption as Agatino D’Arrigo dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and the ball found no takers to apply the killer touch from his perfect cross in the area, at the other end, Isaac Camilleri handled the ball just outside the area and from the free kick by Gabriel Abela the ball thumped the bar with Cauchi beaten.

In another action by Kalkara, Tyrone Vella released Abela in the area and Cauchi saved his close-range effort in two attempts.

Sirens regained the initiative. After Spiteri was fouled on the right flank Isaac Camilleri floated a high ball in the area from the free kick and after the ball was partly cleared the ball hit the bar from a half volley by Spiteri.

In the 50th minute Sirens deservedly opened the score. Spiteri was again fouled on the right flank and after the ball was partly cleared from the free kick by Isaac Camilleri, the same player scored with a hard grounder from outside the area.

The score became 2-0 in the 58th minute as Andre’ Calleja entered the area after dribbling past an opponent on the right flank and scored with a hard diagonal drive.

Though leading by 2-0 Sirens kept pressing. Spiteri released Chircop in the area but he drove slightly out and after a perfect cross from the right flank by Schembri  there were no takers in the area to apply the killer touch.

In the third minute of added time Sirens put the issue beyond any doubt as they sacored a third goal as Spiteri dribbled past an opponent outside the area and he scored with a very hard shot.
