YAMAHA Gozo Motocross Championship Quarter Finals

The Gozo Motorcross Association organised the championship 2018/19 quarter finals at Ta’ Xħajma Track. Twenty-two riders including a number of Maltese riders, participated in the event, watched by numerous fans.

Class A riders dominated the day as they had the most incredible competitive show. Top rider of the Gozitan Championship classification and 2018 Champion Steve Xuereb, together with David Dimech and Carmelo Borg raced against Maltese current ASMK Champion Kyle Camilleri.  All riders fought hard to place in the first three positions in all of the three heats. Camilleri won this category followed closely by Xuereb in second place and Dimech came third.

Class B was also challenging with leader Glenn Vella, winning first place with 60 points followed by Maltese rider Daniel Caruana and Robert Spiteri. Meanwhile Gozitan 2016-17 champion Mario Cauchi returned after a very long break. He participated in class B and came in fourth place.

In Class C, Daniel Portelli did very well achieving maximum points, followed by Jorn Stellini.  William Sant came third followed very closely by Lewis Debono. Stellini is currently leading Class C.

David Mercieca remained on top in Class D as he came first followed by 15year old Isaac Bartolo and Anthony Fenech who did quite well.

Besides the main sponsor Yamaha by Gasan Zammit, the races were also supported by Ravenol Lubricant Oil at Galea General Services of Xewkija Gozo. At the end, GMA President Frank Xuereb awarded trophies to the winners together with Ravenol products.

Gozo Motocross Association  announces that the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2018/19 semi finals will take place on Sunday 14th  April 2019 at Ta’ Xhajma Track. Races start at 13:00.

For the first time in Gozo, the association is proud to present the first edition of the Motocross Master Classes. These intensive classes, which will be spread over the next weekend (30th and 31st March) will take place at the track and will be headed by popular European Champions Dimitri Asmanov and Nenad Maxims.
