YAMAHA Gozo Motocross Championship 2018 Finals

The Gozo Motocross Association brought its Yamaha sponsored Championship to an end. The  numerous crowd that attended the finals on Saturday afternoon enjoyed an amazing show of racing as riders continued to challenge each other in a competitive yet friendly manner to the end.

This Championship has been sponsored with Yamaha Motors by Gasan Zammit.

Steve Xuereb was crowned Champion of Class A and overall champion of the Yamaha Gozo Motocross Championship 2018.

Xuereb started out the championship on a good note. Diversely challenged along this vying journey, Xuereb focused on the goal, trained hard and held on tight to his position which ultimately awarded him the pinnacle of this exciting championship. He said that it is a good feeling to be able to win this championship, he worked hard for it and ultimately achieved his lifelong dream.

Nataniel Camilleri was reigned champion of Class B. His progress was evident as he achieved one accomplishment after another in each race. Camilleri flied through the rounds, he has shown confidence on the track and was so determined to win this class.

Class C also turned out to be an interesting competition as the result remained indecisive to the end. Matthew Spiteri managed to upturn the outcome and was therefore crowned Champion of Class C. Spiteri is one of the youngest rider in our association and he is able to continue winning great battles in the future.

At the end of the races, trophies, awards and gifts were given to those who deserved it most.

David Dimech was awarded Best Rider 2018.
The ‘Frank Bruno Motocross Award 2018’ was given to Steve Cassar for his continuous enthusiasm, dedication, and discipline as a rider-member of GMA.
President Frank Xuereb and executive secretary VickyAnn Xuereb were presented awards for their hard work and commitment.

The GMA also  handed mementos to ALL member riders.

Finally, CEO of the Gozo Sports Board, Alvin Grech, presented trophies to the winners of the day
Class A:
1st – Steve Xuereb
2nd –David Dimech
3rd – Joseph Bigeni
Class B:
1st – Glenn Vella
2nd –Nataniel Camilleri
3rd – Jorn Stellini
Class C:
1st  – Matthew Spiteri
2nd – Mark Zammit
3rd – Steve Cassar

Following the award giving ceremony, a BBQ party was held at the track where  riders, friends and family came together to celebrate the new champions and mark the end of a fascinating and captivating championship 2018.

Meanwhile, the Gozo Motocross Association is continuing its last minute preparations for the upcoming event Sicily vs Gozo where 12 Gozitan riders will participate with Sicilian riders at the Francavilla MXPark in Sicily. This project will take place from the 11th to the 13th of May and is being supported by the Ministry of Gozo and O’Neal Malta.
