William Vella Takes the Honors in Air-Rifle Competition

William Vella again showed his prowess in winning the 2nd summer air-rifle shooting competition with an MQS score of 571/600. Notwithstanding the severe injuries he suffered to his right hand last month, he showed everybody what determination and perseverence can do in sport. In the sweltering heat at the MSSF Airgun ranges in Bidnija, William shot consistently well to earn first place ahead of Lawrence Darmanin who came in second place with a score of 543 points. Michael Xuereb also shot well to come in close third position with a score of 531 points. Gozitan newcomer Romeo Zuber finished in 4th place with a score of 435 points in his first ever shooting competition.

In the mixed 10m Air-Pistol event Ray Cacciattolo obtained the best score of the day to win a highly contested event with 546 / 600 points. He was followed in second place by Eleanor Bezzina with 526 points. Josette Calleja also shot very well to take third place with a score of 499 points ahead of Martin Grech who scored 483 points to secure 4th placing.
