Speaking immediately after finishing his event, a visibly dejected Chetcuti said that he gave his maximum but unfortunately on the day this was not good enough. He said that his final result was conditioned by unusual misses in the beginning of the 1st and 3rd rounds together with some technical problems.

The qualification round was won by Britain’s Peter Wilson who hit 143 from 150 clays, three ahead of Russian Vasily Mosin and Kuwait’s Fehaid Aldeehani. Russia’s Vitaly Fokin came in third with 139 points while Hakan Dahlby and Richard Bognar, of Sweden and Hungary respectively, booked the 2 last places in the final with 137 clays, only 2 ahead of Malta’s William Chetcuti.

I personally think that William still did a good job, he is obviosly down cos of the fact that he wanted a final with the top six. now it is time for Lino Farrugia Sacco and Joe Cassar to explain to the general if they will keep on insisting on william or any other athlete, how about Open water Bartolo ???, Table tennis guy Daniel ???

  2. Oswald says:

It was ‘hard luck’ for William, but YOU ARE STILL OUR ‘STAR ATHLETE’ , and we love you. Looking at the above classification it is clear that William is in the Top 10 in the World and we should be all proud of this. He managed to beat the Americans, he did much better than the Chinese (who are leading the Olympics in medals). William managed to beat 15 other world class shooters, not forgetting the other outstanding results by William over the past year.
