Qormi 4 v Vittoriosa 1

Qormi have trounced bottom side Vittoriosa 4-1 thanks to another fine display by man of the match Michael Mifsud.

Qormi now have fourteen points and are joint seventh with Sliema Wanderers in the league table, the latter have a game in hand. Qormi opened the score on the 6th minute mark thanks to a Michael Mifsud header fdollowing a corner. Bello- Osagie doubled the lead for the yellow blacks on the 33rd minute.

In the beginning of the second half Michael Mifsud again was on target less than a minute in the pitch. Vittoriosa managed to reduce the gap thanks to a Campaganoli header from a corner. Qormi again took a 3 goal lead through a Santos Souza (following what seemed a soft penalty procured by captain Joseph Farrigia).

Vittoriosa coach Winston Muscat decided for a 4-3-3 formation. Alan Tabone, Brazilian Jorge Santos and his countryman Edision Santos formed a three men forward line. Leighton Grech and coach Winston Muscat were both suspended and watched the match from the stands. Assistant coach Darren Abdilla took charge of the Cooonera side from the bench.

Qormi’s coach Azzopardi started with an initial 4-2-3-1 tactical line up. Joseph Chetcuti and Nigerian Bello-Osagie supported lone striker Michael Mifsud upfront. Matthew Bartolo and goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri were both ruled out for today’s encounter.

Vittoriosa’s hopes of escaping relegation get more complicated with only four games till the end of thier season.

it is a pity that such a team like Qormi are playing in d relegation pool

    George Reply:

I agree, Qormi deserve a much better position with their line up, but they missed a lot of points during the firts round. We look forward to see Qormi next season. Most of the players have a three year contract with the club and not on loan. Qormi will soon start challenge for an honor.
