Vittoriosa Stars will only add one more defender to the current squad, club vice president Joeseph Scicluna stated after the arrivals of Lucas Ramon Dos Santos and Balzan hot prospect Lydon Micallef on Saturday.

Ramon Dos Santos, voted best defender at the Malta Foootball Awards 3 years ago, joined the Reds on a three year contact after he impressed during last campaign. Ramon, also played for Qormi during his career in Malta. He will be the club’s third foreigner alongside Marcelo Perreira and Gary Muir. The twin brothers Samir and Siraj Arab also joined from Valletta on  a season loan after some appearances with the champions last season.

The Reds also added striker Lydon Micallef following his impressive displays with Balzan Youths last season. The 20 year old was also Pieta Hotspurs coach Edmund Lufi’s priority target but once Scicluna set his sights on the former Birkirkara youth nursery player, he signed him after a meeting with Balzan Youths official coach Oliver Spiteri. Scicluna said that “we wanted to add the youngster and after some talks with Balzan, they gave us the go ahead to talk to Micallef, and two hours later he was a Vittoriosa Stars player’

Scicluna, the executive director of one of Malta largest casinos, confirmed that his club is in advanced talks with Hibernians for the transfer of defender Matthew Tabone. The 20 year old almost missed the whole of last season after rupturing a tendon in his knee. ‘ We are working to add Tabone, but for now he’s still Hibernians player’ added Scicluna.
