Vittoriosa and Hibernians concluded Sunday’s BOV Premier League programme. Vittoriosa came from a goalless draw against Floriana where they registered their first point of the season last weekend. On the other hand, Mark Miller’s side wanted to make up for Sunday’s disappointing performance against Hamrun where they lost 4-3 in a game that saw them almost register an important comeback but it was not the case. Hibernians were missing Zoran Levnaic and Adrian Pulis both suspended.

Vittoriosa were definitely the better side with superb performance by Jorge dos Santos Silva and Ewurum upfront who were always a threat to the Paolites. Simon Agius the Vittoriosa keeper also helped to keep the Hibernians attacks at bay. It was surely a negative day for Cohen & Co. as the Hibs forward line and attacking midfield lacked penetration. Vittoriosa were missing Pierre Aquilina .

1st Half:

9min: Carlos Compagnoli sees his close range effort well saved by Muscat.

20min: Wellman is penalised for handling the ball inside the Stars’ penalty area. Referee Trustin Farrugia Cann who is making his Premier League debut awards a penalty for Hibernians.

21min: Andrew Cohen misses the target as he shoots above the crossbar.

31min: Carlos Compagnoli’s low powerful shot well saved by Mario Muscat.

37min: Paul McManus heads down across towards Cohen but the latter misses yet another chance as the Cottonera defenders clear into a corner.

38min: From the same corner, Jean Paul Farrugia sees his header well saved by Simon Agius.

2nd Half:

46min: Leighton Grech drives his way past the right hand side of Vittoriosa’s attack with his cross shot being deviated by Clarke, then bouncing on Matthew Gauci for a Hibernians own goal.

50 min: Another Vittoriosa counter attack finished off by Compagnoli’s shot saved by Captain Muscat.

56min: Hibernians in difficulty as their defence is constantly under pressure. Anthony Ewurum receives  the ball from Jorge dos Santos Silva and Muscat saves again.

58min: Direct freekick by Compagnoli just wide.

70min: Jorge Silva close to double for the Stars on two ocassions in a matter of seconds, in both ocassions his attempts well saved by Muscat.

73min: Vittoriosa 2-0. Anthony Ewurum strikes the ball easily into the net unmarked after a perfect cross shot by Jorge Silva.

75min: It was definately not the day for the Hibs strikers as McManus misses a simple tap in.

90min: Simon Agius blocks McManus close attempt.

92min: Simon Agius again instrumental to keep a clean sheet for Vittoriosa as he intercepts a Jean Paul Farrugia attempt.
