A group of players and officials from Malta’s foremost men’s volleyball team, Valletta Volleyball Club, earlier this month visited Id-Dar tal-Providenza to present 40 top quality volleyballs. These are being used during the training sessions for the forthcoming Volleyball Marathon which is to be held between the 1st and 3rd July at Id-Dar tal-Providenza’s premises in Siggiewi.

Fr Martin Micallef, Director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked the Valletta contingent for their visit and also congratulated them for their successes this season. “For the past 3 years we have welcomed the volleyball marathon on our premises in Siggiewi, and it is our pleasure to welcome the Valletta players and committee members too. Their presence is a testimony to the commitment of the Maltese public to help those in need” said Fr Micallef.
Valletta’s Owen Spiteri said that the presentation to Id-Dar tal-Providenza was the least that the club could do for the Homes’ residents. “This has been yet another extraordinary season for Valletta and we thought it would be only fitting to give something back to help make this 53-hour volleyball marathon a success” said Spiteri.

“Besides this presentation, members of our club shall also be giving a helping hand with the preparations for the volleyball marathon and also as players. We consider this an important step to fulfill part of our socio-responsability and we hope that this helps this year’s marathon to keep building on the successes of the past few years” added Jonathan Chetcuti, Valletta’s club official.
