Today saw the start of the Grand Prix of Paris were the Citizens are taking part with a very strong team.  The team’s event started things off today with the individual event taking place tomorrow.  The citizens were drawn in a group the comprised of SC Stembert ranked 5th in the world, 25th ranked JSC Rochefort and minnows MVV Rijnmond.  The first match saw the citizens play JSC Rochefort which Valletta won convincingly 4 – 0.  They also saw off MVV Rijnmond with the same score, that of 4 – 0.  SC Stembert was a different story all together with the citizens running out victors with a score of 2 – 1.

In the quarter finals Valletta encountered SC Verviers Herve.  It was a hard fought battle but the citizens came out on top with a score of 2 – 0.  Now Valletta made it to the semis and the competition was heating up.  This time they encountered 11th ranked Rochefort TS and they were determined not to make Valletta’s life easy.  The citizens on the other hand wanted to taste victory once again, and that is what happened.  They cruised into the finals to meet once again 5th ranked SC Stembert.  Stembert were determined not to repeat the same mistakes as the first round and beat Valletta but the citizens were focused and determined as ever and ran out victors with a score of 2 – 1.

Now that we know who the champions of France are in the team’s competition, we turn our attention to tomorrow for the open competition and like Cardiff, we hope to see one of our boys take the open category as well.  The team returns back to Malta on Monday
