Valletta SC sign England’s Chris Thomas

Valletta Subbuteo Club have announced the signing of England No.1 player Chris Thomas who currently is ranked 12th in the international rankings.

Meanwhile during the Annual General Meeting of Valletta Subbuteo Club held last week in Valletta, the committee which had served the club last year, has been re-elected for the next two years.

Valletta Subbuteo Club will be aiming for silverware in Europe from next season which will kick off in September 2011.

The club have achieved four new signings by getting back in their fold Derek Conti from Greek side (Atlas), Samuel Bartolo from (CCT Roma) and Joe Borg Bonaci from Greek side (Falcons).

The other signing is England No.1 player Chris Thomas and this is the first time in the local subbuteo history that a local club have signed a foreign player within their team.

One is to mention that the three Maltese players, all formed part of the Maltese World Cup squad which brought this prestigious trophy for the first time to our island. The news was greeted with satisfaction by members present at the club.

Derek Conti who is still fresh from his achievement in winning the Major tournament in Greece two weeks ago was the mastermind in getting the ball rolling for the club to start aiming his boost to put Valletta in the top elite position this time in Europe.

President Felix Rizzo who took the helm 6 weeks ago was also delighted with these signings and expressed the club’s ambition of winning a European title next year.

The Annual General Meeting was followed by the presentations of trophies for last season and this was followed by a small reception for all members present.

    Yes they are a good squad but don’t forget never thet in malta there is Bormla Subbuteo Club we are going to be in Europa Leauge next October in Slovenia
