Valletta manage a draw in UEFA Europa League vs Ruch

Thursday, July 15, 2010, 21:00

Jesmond Zerafa made his debut as a coach in a UEFA competition, with a well deserved 1-1 draw against Polish side Ruch Chorzow SA.

After a slow start, Valletta conceded a penalty with  just 17 minutes on the clock, when Steve Bezzina fouled Olszar Sebastian inside the box, with Israeli referee Menashe Masiah immediately pointing the eleven meter mark. Grezyb Nojiech stepped to the spot to put the visitors 1-0 up.

Terrence Scerri who came in as a substitute (due to a nagging ankle problem) managed to level the score 15 minutes from time, when he fired home a lose ball. This was the only mistake committed by Polish central defender Rafat who missed a simple clearance.
