Valletta and Hamrun to play for Mare Blu Cup

The first edition of the Mare Blu Cup will be played on Friday 27th August between Valletta FC and Hamrun Spartans at the Victor Tedesco Stadium. This was announced earlier today in a joint Press Conference organized by both Clubs at the sponsor’s head office in Valletta.

Mr. Paul Spiteri who addressed the Press Conference on behalf of Valletta said that he was very happy that an agreement has been reached between these two Clubs along with the sponsor so that this Summer friendly will be played on a yearly basis with the name of Mare Blu Cup.

Hamrun’s spokesperson Mr. Joe Fenech said that there is a very good relationship between both clubs and although in the past the two teams were big rivals in local football there is a very amicable working relationship between Valletta and Hamrun. He encouraged supporters of both teams to attend to this game and said that tickets for this game will be sold for EUR5.00. The tickets will be available from the Victor Tedesco Stadium, l-Amerikan in Valletta and Tip Top in Fgura.

Present for the launch of the Mare Blu Cup were Mr. Gejtu Debattista who has made a comeback in the Hamrun Spartans committee, Mr. Jesmond Zammit Valletta’s Team Manger and Mr. Giovanni Cappitta who along with his brother are the directors of Mare Blu Tuna Fishing farm.

Valletta v Hamrun will be played on Friday 27th August and will be on air on a delayed basis on Saturday 28th August at 8.30pm on Melita’s new local sports channel Malta Stars.
