In Saturday’s first match, Birkirkara will take on newly promoted Mosta at the Hibs Stadium at 18.30hrs. The Stripes start as favourites after their 2-0 victory against Qormi.

Mosta coach Oliver Spiteri is set to make use off newly signed Diego Maradona Pedraiggi  as will give the offensive line a morale boost after last week’s 5-2 humble performance. Left back Bryan Agius and Nicola Bogdanovic are back after they served a one match ban.

Floriana will seek a second consecutive victory against Tarxien Rainbows in Corradino at 20.30hrs.

The Greens are coming from an easy 2-0 victory against minnows Mqabba and coach Michael Woods could set the debut to Ghanian goalkeeper William Amamoo as his suspension was adjusted to only a wage fine and so the Greens coach has no selection problems fot this difficult match.

Tarxien Rainbows seek their first win of the season after last week defeat against Champions Valletta as also coach Noel Coleiro have no selection problems. Goalkeeper Nicholas Vella could be set for his debut as well.

The programme continues on Sunday at the National Stadium as Sliema Wanderers and Qormi take on newly promoted sides Mqabba and Balzan Youths.

In the first match Sliema will be hot favourite to take the threee points at the expense of Mqabba as coach Danilo Doncic has to play without captain Mark Scerri as he is suspended after he was dismissed in the 3-3 draw against Hibernians.

Mqabba coach Clive Mizzi also has no selection problems as goalkeeper Kris Calleja, defender Pierre Grima and winger James Paris are set to play against their former side. The match starts at 18.30hrs.

In the final match of matchday 2, Qormi take on Balzan at 20.30hrs, although it is only the second match for each team it can be six pointer clash as both sides will have dark days ahead should day get out empty handed.

Qormi coach Stephen Azzopardi has no selection problems and could be optimistic after the solid performance in the 2-0 defeat against Birkirkara.

Balzan’s  confirmed trainer-coach Ivan Zammit also has no selection problems as defender Clint Micallef returns for the Youths.
