Update 14.45

Marsaxlokk midfielder Trevor Templeman is set to become Justin Attard’s first signing for Floriana.

The 31 year old is out of contract and is keen to continue his career in the Premier League after a taste of relegation with Marsaxlokk.

Sportinmalta can confirm, that Floriana have opened talks with Templeman’s club to loan them four fringe players and a sum of money to complete his permanent move.

The portal also contacted the player, who confirmed that he will meet the Floriana committee members in the coming days.

Templeman also played for Naxxar Lions and Sliema Wanderers during his career.

The Greens are also planning to appoint a former Liverpool coach in the coming days. The 25 time league winners are also in talks with a former player to be part of the coaching staff, if the deal with the Englishman fails to materialise.

Floriana close to new investors

A close source to sportinmalta.com can confirm that a top British businessman agreed in principle with reconfirmed Justin Attard to start investing in the Floriana Football Club.

An agreement has almost been reached between the current administrators and prospective new owners and it could signal a new era for the club.

The portal contacted  Justin Attard who confirmed that Floriana are in advanced negotiations with a top business man ‘‘ In recent days a Floriana member asked me to consider a post in Floriana Football Club and since I made up my mind I start contacting some investors, who I worked with in my business, and proudly I can confirm that we almost reached an agreement. Once everything is settled we will prepare the necessary documentation and we will work to be active in the transfer market. In the end I would like to thank the club supporters for a warm welcome yesterday evening”

MFA lifts Floriana’s prohibition

The Malta FA is lifting its prohibition ban imposed on Floriana FC clearing the way to sign new players for their League campaign which starts against Sliema Wanderers on 17th August .

The ban on transfer activities was imposed on Floriana following a complaint by Hamrun Spartans, Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk over arrears in the transfers of Mano Micallef, Thomas Paris and Christian Cassar. Floriana also paid money due to Damien Iwueke who had not been paid for the Chris Okoh transfer from Valletta in 1995.

Midway through the year, the clubs had written to the Players and Coaches Complaints Board informing the association that certain dues were owed.

Last Friday, Floriana parted ways with wing-back Mano Micallef who registered with Mosta. It seems that the income from that deal covered all transfer backdated payments, around 36,000 euros including interest.
