MFA lifts Floriana’s prohibition
The Malta FA is lifting its prohibition ban imposed on Floriana FC clearing the way to sign new players for their League campaign which starts against Sliema Wanderers on 17th August .
The ban on transfer activities was imposed on Floriana following a complaint by Hamrun Spartans, Birkirkara and Marsaxlokk over arrears in the transfers of Mano Micallef, Thomas Paris and Christian Cassar. Floriana also paid money due to Damien Iwueke who had not been paid for the Chris Okoh transfer from Valletta in 1995.
Midway through the year, the clubs had written to the Players and Coaches Complaints Board informing the association that certain dues were owed.
Last Friday, Floriana parted ways with wing-back Mano Micallef who registered with Mosta. It seems that the income from that deal covered all transfer backdated payments, around 36,000 euros including interest.
