Paola H through by a penalty goal
Section A winners Paola H crossed swords against Section B winners St Andrew. The first period was a balanced affair and Hibs enjoyed the lion’s share of exchanges after the resumption.
St Andrew were denied by the wood work in the 7th minute when after a flag kick by Jacob Walker the ball thumped the bar from a hard drive by Liam Grech with Hibs keeper Rudy Briffa beaten, and in another action by St Andrew Kyrian Nwoko served Walker with a square pass in the area and a defender cleared his shot to a corner.
The Paolites then reacted and mounted four actions up to the end of the first half. After a flag kick by Clive Gauci, St Andrew keeper Jake Galea saved a header by Cack Scerri. Gauci then served Joseph Mbong with a through ball in the area and the ball was cleared on the line from his header. Jurgen De Gabriel released Aaron Hili in the area and after Galea partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away to safety and Hili served Cutajar with a square pass and as he tried his luck from outside the area Galea turned the ball to a corner with a diving save.
Soon after the restaret Hibs started straight on the offensive. Gauci served Mbong in the area and the ball was cleared away after Galea had partly saved his shot, and minutes later he denied Scerri with a diving save as he tried his luck from outside the area after a square pass by Cutajar. After De Gabriele was put through in the area by Mbong he drove over the bar from inside the area from a very ideal position.
In the 64th minute Paola H scored the goal that mattered when Mbong served De Gabriele in the area and a defender handled the ball from his cross and the same player made no mistake from the resultant penalty by sending Galea the wrong way of the ball.
In the only action by St Andrew Daniel Camilleri served Luke Gialanze with a cross from the right flank and the ball missed the bar by inches following his shot from inside the area.
