 Paola H win the double
 Valletta   1       Paola H   3
After winning Section A Paola H managed to win the Kock Out Competition in a keenly contested game played at Victor Tedesco Ground and watched by a very large crowd. The first period was a balanced affair but Valletta committed the gravest of mistakes by trying to penetrate by long and high balls which were dealt with ease by the tall Paola H defenders. The Paolites enjoyed the lion’s share of exchanges after the resumption The first two actions were created by Paola. Zack Scerri served Jurgen De Gabriele with a through ball in the area and Valletta keeper Daniel Attard foiled him with a timely sortie and Joseph Mbong dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and the ball was cleared away from his cross.
In the first action by Valletta, from a corner kick from the left flank Kurt Drackary served Dario Zampa with a short pass who then served Dario Tabone on the edge of the area but he drove over the bar. Paola opened the score in the 18th minute when De Gabriele served Mbong with a through ball in the area and as he was tripped by the Valletta keeper, De Gabriele converted from the resultant penalty. In another action by Valletta Clint Zammit served Ian Montanaro with a square pass and he drove slightly out from outside the area, and at the other end moments later, Neil Falzon released De Gabriele on the right flank who then served Scerri on the edge of the area and the ball was cleared away from his shot. In a Valletta reaction they mounted three actions. Zampa was fouled on the left flank and the ball was cleared away following Drackary’s free kick. After a free kick by Jean C Seychell, Hibs keeper Rudy Briffa saved a header by Zammit and in the 36th minute they were denied by the wood work when the ball thumped the bar with Briffa beaten after a cross-shot by Seychell.
The last action before the break was created by Paola. Damian Grima served Kurt Cutajar with a square pass and he missed the bar by inches from outside the area. Just after the restart Valletta came very close to level matters when Montanaro dribbled past two opponents, released Zammit in the area and Briffa foiled him as he dived at his feet and smothered the ball. In the 43rd minute Paola scored through De Gabriele but the point was disallowed for off side.
Paola H regained the initiative and created three actions. Scerri released De Gabriele on the right flank and after the ball was partly saved by Attard from his cross-shot it was cleared away by a defender. De Gabriele was then fouled on the right flank, Cutajar floated a perfect high ball in the area from the free kick and Scerri, with only Attard to beat drove over the bar and De Gabriele served Mbong with a through ball and Attard was forced to come out of his chagre and kick the ball away to a throw-in. In the 61st minute the score became 2-0 when Mbong dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and served De Gabriele with a cross in the area who netted with a low hard drive. Two minutes before the end of normal time Valletta substitute Andre’ Ellul was fouled outside the area and Attard saved the free kick shot by Drackary, from the same action Briifa served Mbong with a long drop-kick, the latter released De Gabriele on the left flank who then crossed to Mbong in the area but he failed to get his head to the ball to apply the killer touch. In the first minute of added time Paola scored a third goal as De Gabriele released Cutajar in the area and he scored with a very low hard drive. In the fourth minute of added time Valletta reduced the gap as Drackary entered the area after dribbling past an opponent and scored with a low shot.
