Convincing win for Sta Lucia

Sta Luċija deserved the verdict as they were the more methodical side by creating much more chances of scoring than Siġġiewi and they look set for qualification to the Group Stage after playing the Second Leg.

From the very first whistle Sta Luċija went straight on the offensive by creating three actions. Hassan Alafari served Liam Abela with a through ball and Siġġiewi keeper Wayne Agius had to come out of his charge to kick the ball away. Abela then dribbled past three opponents and the ball was cleared away to a corner from his shot and the same player then square-passed the ball to Hossin Alafari who drove slightly over the bar from the edge of the area.

In the 15th minute Sta Luċija opened the score as Jeremy D’Amato dribbled past an opponent and scored with a rising shot from outside the area and two minutes later they doubled their lead when Liam Abela received the ball from a long clearance and netted with a low shot after entering the area.

The pressure resumed as two more actions were created by Sta Luċija. D’Amato served Abela with a through ball who after entering the area Agius partly saved his shot and the ball was cleared away and later Agius saved in two attempts a shot by Liam Camilleri after being put through by D’Amato.

In the 27th minute Siġġiewi came close to reduce the gap when Gabriel Vidal released Nathaniel Scicluna on the left flank who then crossed the ball in the area but found no takers to apply the killer touch.

Between the 30th and 36th minute Sta Luċija added three further goals. Abela was fouled outside the area, D’Amato served Hossin Alafari with a short pass from the free kick and after the ball thumped the bar from his hard drive, Hassan Alafari netted from the rebound. Abela was again fouled from outside the area and D’amato netted direct from the free kick and D’amato released Abela in the area who scored wtih a low shot.

Siġġiewi created the last action before the break as Nathaniel Baldacchino released Vidal on the left flank and Sta Luċija keeper Eleizer Haidon saved his low shot.

Very few were the actions after the resumption with Sta Luċija keeping the upper hand and managed to add two more goals to their tally. D’Amato released Hossin Alafari in the area and Agius saved his shot, at the other end, Scicluna entered the area after beating a defender and the ball was cleared to a corner from his shot.

In the 67th minute the score became 6-0 as Hassan Alafari served Abela with a through ball who after entering the area scored with a lobbed ball and three minutes later Sta Luċija scored theri seventh and final goal as Abela square-passed the ball to Hassan Alafari who scored with a rising shot from the edge of the area.

Four minutes before the end Siġġiewi were denied by the wood work when Baldacchino entered the area after beating a defender and the ball thumped the bar from his hard drive with Eleizer beaten.
