San Gwann    0

Valletta          4

As the result indicates Valletta had no difficulty in beating San Gwann. Both teams have already assured themselves from salvation as they have won 17 and 18 points respectively from 12 games.

Valletta created the first action as Mirco Vella dribbled past two opponents on the right flank and San Gwann keeper Dean Sciberras neutralized the ball from his cross, while at the other end, Alessio Magro released Jan Tanti in the area and City keeper Daniel Attard foiled him with a timely sortie.

San Gwann then created two actions. Tanti was fouled outside the area and the ball was headed away from the free kick by Magro and Tanti was again fouled outside the area and Magro drove well over the bar from the free kick.

In a Valletta reaction they mounted two actions. Nicky De Gabriel dribbled past an opponent outside the area and he drove slightly over the bar and Nicholas Pulis dribbled past an opponent on the right flank who then crossed to Russell Fenech in the area and Sciberras had to dive and save to a corner his close-range shot.

San Gwann creted the last action before the break when Dale Zerafa released Tanti on the right flank and after he was fouled on the edge of the area the ball was cleared to a corner from the free kick by Tanti.

Two minutes after the restart San Gwann came very close to forge ahead as Magro released Tanti in the area and his lobbed ball was cleared on the line.

Valletta then won a free kick after De Gabriel was fouled and after Mirco Vella floated a high ball in the area from the free kick Sciberras saved in two attempts a shot by Pulis.

In the 53rd minute Valletta opened the score as Stefan cassar served Pulis with a square pass in the area and he netted with a low drive.

The score became 2-0 five minutes later when Fenech received the ball from a long clearance and entered the area after out-speeding an opponent and scored with a hard and low diagonal drive, the same player made it 3-0 in the 62nd minute as he was served with a through ball by De Gabriele on the left flank and scored with another hard low drive after entering the area.

Valletta kept trying and substitute Dale Pace served Pulis with a square pass who drove over the bar after entering the area.

Just before the final whistle Valletta scored a fourth goal as Pulis released substitute Kenny spagnaol on the left flank and he scored a beauty with a rising shot from the edge of the area.
