Two Valletta Subbuteo Club players came semi-finalists in the Grand Prix of Belgium 2019

The Grand Prix of Belgium 2019, was organised last weekend and two players from Valletta Subbuteo Club, Derek Conti and Angelo Borg were competing in the Open Individual Category.

The individual categories competitions were held on Saturday.  After passing the group phase both players made it to the semi-final.

Derek Conti played the quarter final against David Vantassel, player of the Belgian team AS Hennuyer.  Conti won 6-1.  Conti lost the semi-final against Justin Leroy, from Charleroi SC, with the score of 4-3.  Justin Leroy was the winner of this tournament.

This was the debut tournament for Angelo Borg.  In the quarter final Angelo Borg won 1-0 against William Van Den Haute of Rochforte TS.  Unfortunately, Borg lost the semi-final against Chris Dheur of Charleroi SC with ‘shots’ 2-1, after they were draw in the match.

In the Veterans category, after the group stages, John Zammit of Bormla SC arrived up to the last 16, Jason Pisani of Master Sanremo arrived up to the quarter final in the the team event. Pisani’s team Master Sanremo arrived to the quarter final .

In the same weekend was also organized the International Open of Florence where the only Maltese player, Massimo Cremona of Napoli Fighters won the teams event competition, where in the final they won 2-1 against Fiamme Azurre. In the Open Category after advancing from the group stage, Cremona arrived till the last 16.

In the meantime Valletta Subbuteo Club’s next appointment is the Champions League, in the last weekend of October 2019.
