The BOV Premier League resumes after last week’s FA Trophy matches with two interesting derbies. Fourth placed Floriana clash against strugglers Sliema Wanderers at the Hiberians Stadium on Saturday at 2pm. Both teams are coming from defeats in their league encounters against Tarxien R. and leaders Valletta respectively. Both clubs have to win at all cost to keep the pace for a championship pool place. Mark Marlow will have suspended  Jackson Lima out of action and Todor Raykov will most probably have only three foreigners to utilise after Kiril Dzohorov has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Ivailo Sokholov may also be released in the coming days.

Saturday’s second match sees an improved Tarxien side take on Hibernians at 4.15pm a game which will be broadcast  live on Malta Stars. Noel Coleiro welcomes back Everton Pereira after the latter missed the 2-0 victory against Floriana but featured and also scored in the Rainbows’ Trophy game of last Saturday. Mark Miller seems to have no selection problems and most probably will re-include Edward Herrera and Andrew Cohen from the first minute after their omission from the starting line up in the game against Qormi.

On Sunday the two promoted squads clash for the first time in the Premier League. Second placed Marsaxlokk take on Vittoriosa at the Victor Tedesco Stadium at 2pm. Patrick Curmi has no selection problems  and therefore a victory will close the gap to just two points from leaders Valletta who will not feature this week. Winston Muscat will have to play without Brazilian Edson Luis Dos Santos due to suspension after his sending off in the 1-1 draw against Birkirkara. Vittoriosa and will look to extended their current unbeaten run of three games since their first point against Floriana on 23rd October.

In Sunday’s second match Birkirkara take on seventh placed Qormi at 4.15pm  Paul Zammit’s last victory dates 24th September in the game won against Hiberians. The Stripes welcome back Rowen Muscat and have Shawn Bajada back in contention as both start favourites against Birkirkara’s former coach Stephen Azzopardi . Qormi have no selection problems and will hope that their strikers to rediscover the goal technique after they just scored seven goals this season four of which against Vittoriosa S.
