Triganza gives full points to Sliema, Tarxien earn first point

Sliema Wanderers had the better of Floriana in a 1-0 victory thanks to a Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza goal as both teams end up the encounter with ten men. Sliema midfielder Ryan Grech and Ghanaian goalkeeper William Amamoo were the players sent off.

Sliema Wanderers moved to second place joint with Hibernians on seven points as Floriana drop to the fourth place with Birkirkara on six points.

Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza slot home the winning goal after stand in goalkeeper Manuel Bartolo had just saved Jackson Lima’s shot.

Tarxien Rainbows and Hamrun Spartans gained a point each in a 1-1 draw in Sunday’s first match at the Corradino Stadium. It was the first point for each club to move in eight and ninth place respectively in the table.

Summer signing Carl Pulo made his debut in the second half while veteran Rupert Mangion started his first match of the season. Tarxien Rainbows had a bad start of the season after they suffered two successful defeats, while the Spartans had to start from scratch after they lost the points against Balzan Youths on the table.

47min: Ricardo Costa opens the score!! The Brazilian’s rising shot beats helpless Omar Borg for 1-0

58min: Hamrun equalised!! Substituted Luis Silva headed home an Anderson Ribiero cross.
