Trap: Brian Galea wins at Qormi Clay Shooting Club

Brian Galea claimed his twelfth Trap Trophy of the year when he won at the Qormi Clay Shooting Club this weekend.

This Event was organised on 2 qualification rounds of 25 targets each, where the top six shooters overall, passed through to the semi-final stages and eventually the Medal Matches.

Brian Galea placed 1st with 47/50 in the qualification rounds, 12/15 in the semi-final and finished with a perfect straight of 15/15 in the Gold Medal Match as he defeated Nicky Carabott, who had managed 45/50 in qualifications, 14/15 in the semis and 12/15 in the Gold Medal Match.

Mark Bonello was on cloud nine this Sunday, as he made the semi-final stage for the very first time and managed to take the Bronze Medal home when he beat Sean Rizzo 12/15 to 9/15 in the Bronze Medal Match.

In the semi-final Bonello managed 11/15, while Rizzo managed  9/15+1, eliminating by a shoot-off George Mifsud who on the other hand had managed 9/15+0. The other participant who did not make it through to the Medal Matches was Paul Formosa as he only managed 6/15 in the semi-final.

Adam Soler, a newcomer to the Trap discipline made his first appearance in a competition this Sunday and could not have had a better start, when he won in lower class with the score of 38/50.

The top three shooters in their respective classes concluded their two qualification rounds with;

Class A

1st Brian Galea 47/50

2nd Paul Formosa 46/50

3rd Nicky Carabott 45/50

Class B

1st Mark Bonello 40/50

2nd Sean Rizzo 39/50

3rd Jason Magri 37/50

Class C

1st Adam Soler 38/50

2nd Nicky Schembri 36/50

3rd Chris Vella 35/50
