Serie A1 side, Orlandina Basket will be returning to Malta this week for a three-day training camp during the international window. The training camp, to be held between the 23rd and 26th November, will be hosted by the Malta Basketball Association who had also successfully organised a similar visit by Orlandina Basket last January.

“The Italian National League is presently stopped due to the forthcoming commitments of the national teams around Europe. Three of our players will be representing their country – Slovakia’s Mario Ihring, Lithuanian Arnoldas Kulboka and Polish Jakub Wojciechowski,” club spokesman Mr Pietro Scibetta said. “The rest of the squad and the technical staff will travel to Malta, where they successfully worked out last January, for a three-day training camp hosted by Malta Basketball Association.”

Orlandina Basket, who also feature in the FIBA Champions League, will also be playing a friendly match against a selection made up of Malta’s national team players and the best foreign players in the Maltese basketball league. This match, on Saturday 25th November, is part of the activities marking the inauguration of the renovated MBA Arena at Ta’ Qali.

“Our second visit to Malta will further strengthen our excellent relationship with the Malta Basketball Association and its president Paul Sultana. This mini camp should be a great opportunity to biuld a stronger winning group” Orlandina Basket’s Sport Director Mr Giuseppe Sindoni said.

MBA president Paul Sultana said: “We’re very happy to be hosting Orlandina Basket for a second mini-camp in Malta. They are a highly-respected organisation in the Italian Serie A1 category, a club that is making great steps forward, both domestically and also in the European competitions. We are looking forward to having them train and play at the newly-refurbished MBA Arena again. This is also a great opportunity for Maltese basketball fans and followers to see some high-level basketball on Saturday 25th November when Orlandina Basket play a friendly match against the best talents in our local league.”
