Maltese international Luke Dimech’s team, AEK Larnaca have parted company with ex Valletta FC coach Tom Caanen.

AEK described the Dutchman as the ‘most successful coach in AEK History’. The main reasons for this departure were the disappointing start in the Cypriot League and in the UEFA Europa league. Caanen managed to reach the group stages of the UEFA Europa league, enabling AEK to became the first Cypriot team to reach this stage of the competition.

AEK are currently bottom of Group J with only 2 points and they are currently in the eight position in the Cypriot League.  This evening AEK Larnaca play against Maccabi Haifa. They still have a slight chance to qualify for the last 32 round.
