Winston Muscat has resigned as coach of Marsaxlokk after just five months in charge. The news was revealed by acting president Anthony Lee Baldacchino on a local radio programme.

Muscat’s resignation comes after weeks of intense speculation about his future. The south siders just managed two wins and one draw from eight games.

The 42 year old was appointed Marsaxlokk coach by former president Robert Micallef who also was forced to leave his post two weeks ago after a no confidence vote from the committee members. He also coached St Patrick and Vittoriosa Stars in his coaching career.

Former coach Patrick Curmi is in pole position to succeed Muscat.
