Terence Scerri will be unveiled as Hamrun Spartans player next week at the Fenech Arredamenti showroom as the finishing touches on his loan move from Valletta are already finalized.

Hamrun Spartans announced last week they had agreed a deal with Valletta for the 28-year-old striker, who helped the Citizens to win back to back titles.

The move is now set to be completed this Friday, but the presentation will be made next week, with a Hamrun spokesperson  confirming that the player started training with his new team mates under the guidance of first team coach Stefan Sultana’’

Scerri’s contract with Valletta is due to expire in June 2013. Hamrun Spartans accepted an offer to sell Lee James Agius to Zebbug Rangers but rejected an offer for promising goalkeeper Andrea Cassar.

Product of St. George’s, Scerri made his debut in the Premier League on 4 February, 2001, in Hibs 4-0 victory over Xghajra Tornadoes. He entered as a second half substitute in place of Silvio Vella. In summer 2009, he joined Valletta to made his debut on 21 August against Birkirkara.
So far in the Premier League matches played 223 and scored 122, 85 of them as a Hibernians player.

Hamrun spokesman also confirmed the Reds are in talks with Marsaxlokk over the posible move of defender Clive Brincat.

Newly re-named name Balzan Football club announced the re-signing of Brazilian defender Renato Conceicao from Lija Athletics as he will be making his return after he was part of the club’s promotion 14 months ago. Brazilian sensation Pedro Dos Santos Calcado also was reconfirmed. The Reds and Whites are in search for a foreigner striker and a right back. This was confirmed by President George Borg with sportinmalta.com.

George Borg confirmed he reached agreement for another year with Jamie Pace and Yessous Camilleri from Valletta as he already registered veteran midfielder Stefan Gigljio from Tarxien Rainbows on a free transfer.

Italian left sided Modesto Valerani started pre season training with Sliema Wanderers on Wednesday as newly coach Clive Mizzi will assess the youngster in the coming weeks. Sliema Wanderers are also giving some trials to a trio of Argentineans, brought in Malta by Todor Rajkov.

First division promotion hopefuls Gzira Utd announced the signing of Nigerian striker Alfred Effiong on a free transfer. The former Marsaxlokk striker signed a one year contract with an option for a further year. Club spokesman Sharlon Pace was delighted with the capture of Effiong calibre as he’s aiming for a back to back promotion. Gzira already signed Pierre Grima, Jeffrey Chetcuti, Steve Mielaq and Ryan Deguara (for good).
