High flying Junior Squad bowlers, Sara Xuereb and Matthew Magro are enjoying a Summer filled with bowling highs, having recently returned from a highly successful two-tournament trip to the UK. They formed part of a youth & junior group that ‘cleaned up’ at the Junior English Open held in Norwich, where both athletes claimed gold medals in various events, before then taking part in the Junior London International, which was actually won by Sara, with Matthew also reaching the final stages.

The latest recognition for the pair of National Sport School (Malta) Students came during this week’s seasonal MTBA Presentation Dinner held in St. Julian’s, where both were presented with the latest in Roto-Grip bowling balls. Mr. Neil Dent presented the prizes, on behalf of the Eden SuperBowl.

The bowling balls were given as special prizes to Sara and Matthew, who were the top performing Maltese youth bowlers in the Malta Open Championships held in June. Sara’s qualifying total was 2365 over twelve games (2461 including bonus), which is an astonishing 197 game average, while Matthew shot a fantastic 2442 for twelve, which is a 203.5 average.

These are incredible achievements indeed, considering that both Xuereb and Magro are just 13 years old.
