Ramis take Supreme to join Fina in second spot

Okmalta.com crush Blitzkrieg to go 14 clear

Week twelve of the MSV Life National Bowling League saw some very big scores, the biggest of them all going to top team okmalta.com who shot a huge 2547 in their thrashing of Blitzkrieg, which pushed them a further two points ahead of the field for a 14-point gap. Ramis also won all eight against Supreme to put them level in second with Fina, who dropped points in their majority win against Malta International Airport. Turu’s Knights picked up a useful 8 – 0 win over Pin Strikers, and there was a 6 – 2 win for Royal Shock against XS.

Okmalta.com’s title campaign marches on through week twelve, with a very one-sided victory over a struggling Blitzkrieg side. Their relatively easy opening win of 717 – 790 would prove to be the closest of the 3-game match, as the leaders took the second game with an excellent 875 effort against a 738 from Blitzkrieg, before finishing off with a 660 – 882 to easily make sure of all eight points. Okmalta.com are now 14 points clear with six weeks remaining this season. Mauro Anastasi (okmalta.com), 716, male bowler of the week. Matthew Gingell Littlejohn (Blitzkrieg), 533.

Ramis go joint second with Fina, but lie third due to their slightly lower pinfall, after they took all eight from their clash with Supreme. The later were extremely unlucky in game one, their valiant 807 effort just pipped by an 831 from Ramis. Ramis had an easier time of it in game two which they won 699 – 799, and then rounded off the thrashing with a 739 – 818 finisher. Mark Spiteri (Ramis), 709. Helenio Grech (Supreme), 614.

Outgoing champions, Fina allowed Ramis to catch up by dropping two vital points in their majority victory against Malta International Airport in week twelve. They drew first blood with a trouble-free 809 – 679 win in the first, and must surely have been confident of bagging all eight points after doubling their lead with an 861 – 689 game two win. That wasn’t to be however, as Fina dropped to a lower 730 in game three to gift two points to MIA who improved to a 748. Sue Abela (Fina), 639, Female Bowler of the Week.

Turu’s Knights showed cool and consistency in their 8 – 0 hammering of Pin Strikers, and move up into fourth place with the big win. Pin Strikers look to be dead certs for relegation and could do nothing to counter the Knight’s attack, losing out 767 – 635 and 792 – 718 in the second and third respectively. The result puts them 13 points below safety. Peter Mallia (Turu’s Knights), 633.

Royal Shock came out on the better end of a 6 – 2 result against XS this week to improve by one place to sixth. It was the eventual losers who took the early points, winning game one 718 – 766, but it was then all square after game two which fell 765 – 700 to Royal Shock. Only 17 pins separated the two sides going into game three so it was anybody’s match at that stage, but then Royal Shock pulled off the game of the week if not of their long career as a team, an enormous 934 to XS’s 734 to make sure of the lion’s share. David Fenech (Royal Shock), 617. Sara Xuereb (XS), 623.
