Tarxien push rivals Hibs in deep trouble

The much awaited derby today at the Hibs Stadium in Kordin saw Tarxien R and Hibernians face each other in a 90 minute encounter full of emotions.

Tarxien R. were coming from a 2-0 win against Floriana while Hibernians were coming from a disappointing goalless draw against Qormi. The two set of supporters were all set in a party style to encourage their players in this hot south derby. Hibernians had a slow run so far where from their last four games they only registered two points out of a maximum of twelve.

Tarxien v Hibs entry

Hibs last won on 11th September in the first League game against Floriana. The Hibs fans surely will find it hard to digest another defeat to arch rivals Tarxien especially this weekend on the eve of the Paolites’s home town feast celebration. Mark Miller is beleived to have handed his resignation some weeks ago to the Hibs Committee but it was rejected, so today it was yet another chance for him to make up for the poor show of his team so far. Fingers must not surely be pointed at Miller only as his players either need an extra injection or else change their personal method of play as most of them seem to be too predictable in whatever they do on the field of play.

On the other hand seems that all is going very well for Coleiro’s side as his Brazilian players keep on  making the mark on each game. Infact the Brazilians scored between them 12 out of the 13 Tarxien goals with the odd one being today’s own goal by Pearson.

Hibernian’s next encounter will be against Sliema Wds who also lost earlier today 1-0 to Floriana.

28min: McManus’ header just wide from a Cohen corner

62min: A regular shoulder charge by Xuereb on Cristiano Ridruguez is ruled as a fould by Referee Azzopardi who also lists Xuereb amongst the yellow carded players.

74min: Tarxien almost hit again as Cristiano hits just wide off Muscat’s right hand upright.

75min: Tarxien manage to hit their second goal as Sergio Pacheco de Oliveira makes his way past the Hibs defenders and with a cool finish he officially starts the Tarxien supporter’s celebrations. Pacheco makes his seasonal goals lot amount to three.
