Table Football: Massimo Cremona wins the Open Gran Prix of Scotland

This weekend the FISTF Gran Prix of Scotland was held in the city of Glasgow.

The Maltese players roar this Gran Prix as all four players were on the podium. Massimo Cremona won the Open Category and Angelo Borg finished finalist while in the Veterans Category Joseph Mifsud took the title with Jason Pisani made it up to the semis.

16 players took part in the Open category while 17 players played in the Veterans coming up from seven different nations.

The format was 4 Groups in each Category with the best 2 players from each group pass for the quarter finals. All Maltese players won their respective groups easily.

In the Open Category the final was contested between the two Maltese players, Massimo Cremona and Angelo Borg. In a very tactical and technical game, Cremona had the edge over Borg only on shoots 2-1 after the match and also the golden goal ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

In the semi Finals Cremona had the better of Greece Dimos Tsompanidis 4-1, while Borg beat Greece Giorgos Tsompanidis 5-2, while in the quarter final Cremona beat easily Scottish Baver Bari 7-0 and Borg defeated Mike Burns 4-0.

Joseph Mifsud wins the Veteran Category.

In the Veteran Category, Joseph Mifsud had the better of Daniel Scheen beating him 2-1 with golden goal.

In the semi final Mifsud beat Maltese Jason Pisani 2-1 after golden goal as well. In the quarter finals Mifsud had the better of Martin Hodds 3-2 while Pisani saw off Brian Daley 3-1.
