Table Football: Massimo Cremona wins Malta Open Knock Out 2017Wednesday, April 5, 2017, 16:54
Last weekend the Malta Table Football Sports Association organized the Malta Open Knock Out and categories competitions to determine Maltese players to represent Malta in this year World Cup to be held in Paris next September.
In the Open Knock out final, Massimo Cremona of F.illi Bari Reggio Emilia was the winner beating Mario Camilleri of Messina 2-1. It was a very tactical and balanced game which entered 0-0 at half time. In the second half Camilleri opened the score but Cremona reacted straight away from kick off to level the game and shortly scored to turn the score 2-1 in his favour. Camilleri tried to react but loosing the ball was crucial in the last 3min of the game as Cremona gained possession and controlled the match till the end to win the Malta Open Knock out and automatically qualified to represent Malta for the FISTF World Cup 2017 to be held in Paris next September.
In the semi finals Massimo Cremona had the better of Charles Aquilina 1-0 while Mario Camilleri defeated Samuel Bartolo 3-1.

Massimo Cremona qualified for the 2017 FISTF World Cup in Paris on the 2 & 3 September, in the Open Category.
In the Veteran Categories, Adrian Bonnici emerged winner as in the final he beat Jason Pisani 2-1 on golden goal. Both Bonnici and Pisani qualified for the 2017 FISTF World Cup in Paris for veterans category.
In the semi finals, Bonnici had the better of Charles Aquilina 2-1 while Pisani won against Massimo Cremona 3-2.
Melvin Barun was the winner of a round robin league between 4 players with Jurgen Balzan finish runner up. Both players qualified for the 2017 FISTF World Cup in Paris for Under 19 category category.
