Swimming: LEN European Junior Swimming Championships Netanaya, Israel 28 June – 2 July 2017

Mya Azzopardi (Neptunes), Francesca Falzon Young (Sirens), Jeremy Bugeja (Sirens) and Thomas Wareing (Sliema) were selected to participate in the European Junior Swimming Championships and obtained these results:

Day 2:

Jeremy Bugeja 100m Freestyle 54.10s PB for him by 0.64s

Thomas Wareing 200 Individual Medley 2:13.41 New National Record

The previous record was also held by Thomas at 2:14.13 achieved during the Easter Meet in April 2017.

Day 3:

Thomas Wareing 200 Backstroke 2:12.02 New National Record

The previous record was also held by Thomas at 2:13.08 obtained during the Easter Meet in April 2017.

Day 4:

Francesca Falzon Young 50m Freestyle 27.08s New Age Group D Record

Previous Age Group D record of 27.12s was also attained by Francesca at the GSSE last month.

Thomas Wareing 200m Freestyle 1:59.43 Personal Best

Jeremy Bugeja 200m Freestyle 1:59.48 New Age Group D record

The previous record was held by Neil Muscat at 2:00.05 in July 2014

Day 5:

Jeremy Bugeja 50m Free 24.79 Personal Best

Mya Azzopardi 50m Fly 29.40s Personal Best

Francesca Falzon Young 50m Fly 29.20s New Age Group D Record

The previous Age Group D record of 29.27s which was held by Nicola Muscat since December 2010.

 

The swimmers were accompanied by coach Isabel Zarb, who filled in for National Coach Artem Goncharenko who was preparing a number of swimmers for other upcoming competitions.
