The female members of the the Air-Rifle and Pistol Shooting Club – a prolific and energetic affliate of the Malta Shooting Sport Federation, are giving the boys a really hard time in shooting competitions. Last Saturday it was no exception where we witnessed some exciting shooting by the female air-rifle shooters to take the first two podium places in the Airgun Competitions held at Bidnija.

Marianna Kisvardai was in an unbeatable mood to register her first win of the season with an excellent score of 575/600 points in the ‘mixed’ Air-Rifle event. Newcomer Alison Vella also gave a good fight to finish in second place with a personal best score of 554/600 points whilst Romeo Zuber, who also shot a personal best score of 536/600 points, had to settle for third place. After another exciting final where additional top scores were obtained by the rifle shooters, the final placings remained the same.

In the Men Air-Pistol event, first place went to Ray Cacciattolo scoring 537 points and followed in second place by Stephen Vassallo with a close score of 531points. Martin Grech (493 points) and Mario Mallia Milanes (471 points) ended the competition in 3rd and 4th place respectively.

In the Women Air-Pistol event, Eleanor Bezzina added another win to her long list of competitions achieving a score of 358/400 points. Josette Calleja Galea also registering a personal best score of 333/400 points, finished in 2nd place.

The competitions were judged by International referee Gino Galea and assisted by John Galea and Lawrence Darmanin.
