Newly promoted Premier league club Marsaxlokk have agreed terms with Nigerian born Sunday Eboh Ikechukwu to play with them in the 2010/11 season. Eboh will join coach Patrick Curmi and his new team mates as from this evening’s training session.

29 year old Eboh who holds a Maltese passport played in Malta for Marsa, Birkirkara and Floriana. He can be utilized both as a central defender and also as a midfielder.

Strange twist in Carlo Mamo’s deal

It was a special evening when Carlo Mamo was presented as one of the new acquisitions to the Tarxien Rainbows supporters in a recent rally that was organized by the club and it’s supporters club. Tarxien’s officials were very close to conclude a deal with Marsaxlokk over the permanent transfer of the player who was to return to his native club.

During this player’s presentation, Mamo was invited to say a couple of words to the enthusiastic Tarxien supporters and he was quoted to have said “I am very delighted to have returned to this club, I have always dreamt of playing once again for Tarxien and it is like a dream coming true being able to end my career in the next three season here with Tarxien”, concluded the Malta International left back.

Mamo, who last January was loaned from Marsaxlokk to Birkirkara till the end of the season, was looking forward to form part of Noel Coleiro’s squad for the coming season but things took a twist when Marsaxlokk’s President Robert Micallef had second thoughts and informed Tarxien that he wanted to keep Mamo on the Marsaxlokk books.

The deal which was going through as planned was being headed by Micallef himself and Tarxien’s President Cassar. It was Robert Micallef who, over the phone, informed Cassar that some new members of the Marsaxlokk committee wanted to keep Mamo for the 2010/11 season.

George Mallia seeking alternatives

Birkirkara FC have not yet reached an agreement over the renewal of the contract of one of their key players George Mallia. It is reported that Mallia who is out of contract asked for an increase in his financial package but his request was immediately refused by the Birkirkara FC committee.

Sportinmalta.com is informed that the two parties are very far from reaching an agreement as the player is sticking to his original request so this leaves no option to the ex-Malta International player to seek new pastures with a local Premier club.

News has just reached us that 27 year old Brazilian Daniel Mariano Bueno has returned to Malta today at 12:30pm to start playing once again with Tarxien Rainbows. Later in the afternoon, Bueno signed a 2 year deal with the Rainbows and this evening joined his team mates in Pembroke for his first training session. Tarxien will be keeping all their foreigners as Ricardo Costa is in possession of an Italian passport, allowing Tarxien to keep one of their foreigners on the bench while the other 4 can be fielded in the starting lineup.

On Monday sportinmalta.com had reported that Bueno was having problems with the Polish side he was playing with and that there was a strong possibility that he would return imminently to Malta to play for Tarxien or Valletta.
