Summer sports programmes for everyone

Kunsil Malti ghall l-isport will be launching their Summer Sports Programmes with the aim of providing opportunites for youngsters, adults and senior citizens to actively participate in various programmes throughout the summer period, from 12th July to 3rd September. Sessions take place in the morning and in the evenings. Venues include Cottonera Sports Complex, Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex (National Swimming Pool and University Sports Hall), Sailing Sessions near Haywharf and Pretty Bay, B’Bugia and Adventure sessions at various localities. Registrations for the KMS Summer on the Move Programme and the KMS Active Youngsters Programme will be accepted as from Monday 24th May 2010. Registrations and payments may also be effected online. The Summer Programmes include the following activities:

KMS SUMMER ON THE MOVE: Cottonera Sports Complex Programme

The Cottonera Sports Complex is a daily morning programme taking place between 9am and noon and involves various indoor games consisting of various physical activities, interactive games, swimming sessions and an Adventure programme specifically for 12 year to 16 year olds. The programme is divided into two age brackets, youngsters between 4 years and 10 years and 11 years and 16 years. Swimming sessions take place at the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex and the Adventure Programme at various places (transport is provided by KMS from Cottonera Sports Complex). For youngsters between 4 years and 10 years – Indoor activities take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays while the swimming sessions take place on Mondays and Thursdays. For youngsters between 11 years and 16 years – Indoor activities take place on Mondays and Thursdays, Swimming sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays and the Adventure programme (applies only for 12 years to 16 year olds) takes place on Wednesdays. Parents can opt for two or more sessions.

KMS SUMMER ON THE MOVE: Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex (National Swimming Pool and University Sports Hall) Programme

The Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex (National Swimming Pool and University Sports Hall) is also a daily morning programme (with some exclusions) taking place between 9am and 12:30pm and also involves various indoor games consisting of various physical activities, interactive games, swimming sessions and an Adventure programme specifically for 12 year to 16 year olds. The programme is divided into two age brackets, youngsters between 4 years and 10 years and 11 years and 16 years. Transport from Tal-Qroqq to the Adventure Programme is provided by KMS. For youngsters between 4 years and 10 years – Swimming sessions take place between 8.30am and 10.00am followed by the indoor activities between 10am and 12.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. For youngsters between 11 years and 16 years – Swimming sessions take place between 8.30am and 10am followed by indoor activities from 10am to 12.30pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Adventure programme (applies only for 12 years to 16 year olds) takes place on Mondays from 8.30am. Parents can opt for two or more sessions.

KMS SUMMER ON THE MOVE: Adventure Programme

The Adventure sessions programme catered for at the Cottonera Sports Complex and or the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex, with transport from both venues to all locations earmarked for the activities provided by KMS. The schedule caters for youngsters between 12 and 16 years of age where they have the opportunity to take part in an exciting programme that takes them on an adrenalin high experience of kayaking, beach games, trekking, treasure hunts and orienteering, among others.

KMS SUMMER ON THE MOVE: Sailing Programme

Sailing sessions are held once a week. These are organised with the Vikings Sailing Club and the B’Bugia Sailing Club. For sessions organised with the Vikings Sailing Club these apply for children between 9 years to 16 years and take place at Hay Wharf, Floriana (near excelsior Hotel). These are held on Monday’s or Tuesday’s with a choice of two sessions, the first from 8.30am to 10.30am and the second from 10.30am to 12.30pm. For sessions organised with the B’Bugia Sailing Club these apply for children between 8 years to 16 years and take place at Pretty Bay, B’Bugia. Beginners and intermediate sessions are held on Thursday’s at 9am and 1.30pm respectively. Advance sessions take place on Saturday’s from 9am.

KMS SUMMER ON THE MOVE: Swimming Programme

Daily swimming sessions for everybody starting from 4 years of age including adults and senior citizens are held between 10.30am and noon at the Tal-Qroqq Swimming Pool Complex.

KMS ACTIVE YOUNGSTERS PROGRAMME: Summer evenings

KMS Active Youngsters is an evening sports programme held between 6pm and 7.30pm at the Cottonera Sports Complex for youngsters between 9 and 16 years of age, offering them a variety of sports. Participants have the opportunity to choose more than one sport including: Football, Modern Dance, Handball, Netball, Traditional Karate, Volleyball and Basketball.
