Eleanor Bezzina, Malta’s top air-pistol shooter earlier this month participated quite successfully at the Intershoot International Airgun Shooting Competitions held at The Hague in Holland.

After a slow start in her first warm-up competition for Ladies 10m Air-Pistol, she then produced some of her excellent shooting in the next two competitions to beat several top European female shooters. Eleanor’s excellent scores of 370/400, being also a new maltese overseas record in this discipline, enabled her to enter the final in 5th place. However in the highly tense final where the scores of the top eight shooters being so close, Eleanor could only manage a 7th final placing which is still considered as an excellent placing for the maltese shooter.

On the third day, Eleanor achieved a similar score of 370/400 which again landed her in the final and this time she fared a bit better for a higher 6th place from 15 shooters.

Participating countries included: England, France, Scotland, Norway, Denmark, Mongolia, Wales, Belgium and Luxembourg.

Bezzina’s participation is part of her preparation for the Liechtenstein GSSE where she is already qualified to take part by having achieved the required MQS. Her visit was made possible by the Maltese Olympic Committee.
