Yesterday evening the ASA Council announced the winners of the Bank of Valletta Div I and Div II Water Polo Players of the Year 2011.

This year the winners were selected by means of a system whereby technical persons, including council members, technical committee members, coaches and referees submitted their votes by email after every match.

The Bank of Valletta Player of the Year is Stevie Camilleri of Neptunes. The Div II award went to Valletta goalkeeper Andrea Sammut.

Niki Lanzon (Neptunes) and Edward Arrigo (M’Scala) were the respective runners-up.

The presentations will be made later on this year.

Finally gets the recognition he deserves.Funny that this comes locally long after he has had the recognition he works so hard for from his peers abroad.

On the subject of xellugi well I suppose only time will tell if he learned his lesson………

Well done Stevie keep the red & white flying high!

xellugi soon to come … be aware … forza giljan

Xellugi off to Sliema my friend ;)

But he added that san giljan will be forever in his heart especially because they kept paying his wage for the two year DOPING ban he was given . haha what cheek !

    supporter2 Reply:

Has his contract expired or something?  Cause if that is the case then he can sign for Sliema, provided they pay the fee due to San Giljan, and San Giljan can’t really do anything.

If on the other hand it hasn’t expired, then San Giljan should do all in their power to keep him, as losing Xellugi basically means throwing away their title aspirations.  With the new signings, with the re-inclusion of Xellugi, and if they can get 2 good foreigners like last year (the same foreigners should be brought back) then they can really have a say for the title!

    Well done Stevie!!
