Steve Camilleri shines in Italy

Steve Camilleri, the Neptunes Vodafone Maltese international, now in his second year with the Italian Serie A1 side RN Bogliasco , has been in excellent form lately, scoring a number of goals which have seen him climb to fourth place in the topscorers list with 18 goals from seven games, just four goals behind the Serbian top player and current topscorer, Vanja Udovicic of Pro Recco.

Steve Camilleri in action for RN BogliascoCamilleri , 22, finished last season with a tally of 42 goals for his club, to finish as their topscorer in his first season with them, and is well on the way to having another successful season . Last Saturday he was the protagonist for his team in an 8-8 draw away to Posillipo, scoring 4 goals and helping Bogliasco win a crucial away point.

In Bogliasco’s previous match against the strong RN Savona side, currently placed second in the league, Camilleri also had an excellent game scoring four of his side’s six goals in an 11-6 defeat. His performances are being highly praised by a number of waterpolo websites and analysts of the game.

Bogliasco currently in joint eighth place of the twelve-team league are scheduled to play home RN Imperia next Saturday and away to SS Lazio the following week, in two games that should proove to be balanced encounters, before the Italian league breaks up for the Christmas holidays
