A fast and entertaining game which pleased the sizeable crowd present at Luxol Ground. St Andrew now lead the standings on 25 points from 10 games while Balzan are in fourth position on 19 points from 9 games.
The game was full of actions as both teams had their good moments. St Andrew mounted the first action as Kyrian Nwoko served Jacob Walker with a square pass who after advancing the ball missed the bar by inches from his effort from the left edge of the area, while at the other end, Dillon Darmanin released Gianfranco Micallef in the area and after St Andrew keeper Jake Galea partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away.
In the next attack by St Andrew in the 6th minute they opened the score as Adam Azzopardi dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and Walker scored with a rising shot from the edge of the area after Azzopardi’s perfect cross.

This equaliser served as a booster for Balzan as they mounted three further actions. Sean Cipriott was fouled outside the area and after the free kick  by Luke Pace created havoc in the area the ball was somehow cleared away to safety. Liam Saliba released Chris Mizzi on the left flank and the ball was cleared away following his insiduous cross and a minute before the interval they came very close to take the lead when the ball missed the upright by inches from a shot by Micallef after he was put through in the area by Darmanin.
In the first minute of added time Walker served Camiileri with a cross in the area and Sciberras denied him with a fine diving save.
Eight minutes after the restart Walker served Nwoko with a perfect through ball in the area and the ball was cleared on the line to a corner, which was taken by Camilleri and Jonathan Stilon headed slightly out.
Balzan then won a corner kick on the left flank which was taken by Cipriott who served Saliba with a short pass and Galea was forced to dive and save his effort from outside the area.
In an action by St Andrew  Luigi Muscat Filletti served Camilleri with a through ball and as he tried his luck from the left edge of the area the ball sailed slightly over the bar.
In the 72nd minute St Andrew re-established their slender lead when Clements served Walker with a perfect through ball in the area and he scored with a low diagonal drive.
Clements then served Muscat Filletti in the area and Sciberras foiled him from further progression as he dived at his feet and in the last action of the game Walker released Camilleri on the left flank and the ball whizzed past the far post from his cross with Sciberras beaten.
