Joe Caruana Curran (ASA)

The Amateur Swimming Association – he is its president – passed through one of its most successful years, if not the best ever, registering successes in both waterpolo and swimming. The waterpolo teams – seniors and juniors – qualified for the European Championship finals in Serbia, and the European Games in Baku, respectively. The success in swimming was mainly obtained during the Games for the European Small States in Iceland as well as in the synchronised sector.

Jesmond Caruana (weightlifting)

Caruana is the federation’s president. Instrumental in the organisation of several competitions at national and international level. He was a member of the jury on several occasions as well as a referee at international competitions organised by the world and European bodies as well as that of the Commonwealth.

Joseph Muscat (basketball)

Secretary general of the local association. He was responsible for the organisation of the local competitions. Formed part of the set-up within the MBA which organised the FIBA Europe international conference. He was also administratively responsible for the national teams in all categories.

Johann Pace (ASMK)

Secretary general of the Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK). He was responsible for the administrative sector as well as public relations. He organised several events and proved to be influential in the relations with international bodies.

Clayton Pisani (MFA)

Clayton Pisani was last year promoted to the First class category of UEFA and was appointed to control two European Championship qualifying matches, including World Cup winners Germany. He also became the first Maltese referee to control an Europa League match involving Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, in the Group stage. He twice successfully attended an advanced UEFA course for the best referees which involved physical tests as well.
