Hamrun S   1       Melita    1

A draw was a fair result in this game as both teams tried their very best to play good football and neither side dominated the other. Melita occupy 4th place on 20points from 10 games while Hamrun are in 5th position on 16 points also from 10 games.

After a rather quiet first period the game came to life after the resumption as more actions were created by both sides.

The first action worthy of note was after 11 minutes as play was restricted in midfield with both defences closing all possible gaps to their opposing forwards.

Michele Sansone served Ian Falzon with a through ball in the area and Hamrun keeper Matthew Taliana had to come out of his charge to kick the ball away, while at the other end, Jake Grech served Seymour Micallef with a cross from the right flank and Melita keeper Jozef Spiteri saved his header.

In the 14th minute Melita were denied by the wood work. Falzon served Luke Mifsud on the left flank who after entering the area the ball hit the base of the near post from his shot with Taliana beaten and the ball was cleared away.

In Hamrun’s next attack in the 20th minute they opened the score. Luca Bugeja dribbled past an opponent on the left flank who then crossed to Luke Galea in the area and scored with a header, and hardly a minute later they came close to double their lead when Galea served Jake Grech with a cross from the right flank and Spiteri turned his shot from the edge of the area to a corner.

Melita equalised in the 23rd minute as Mifsud dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and served Sansone in the area who after selling the dummy to Taliana scored with a low shot.

In the last action before the break, Sansone served Mifsud on the left flank and the ball missed the bar by inches from his shot.

The first three actions after the resumption were creatred by Melita. Miguel Galea released Mifsud on the left flank and a defender cleared the ball to a corner. Luke Zammit served Sansone with a through ball on the right flank who after entering the area missed the upright from his shot and Zammit was then fouled on the right flank and Taliana saved the free kick shot by Falzon in two attempts.

In a Hamrun attack, Grech released Bugeja on the left flank and Spiteri neutralised the ball from his cross, and in a Melita counter-attack, Falzon served Mifsud in the area and after Taliana partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away to safety.

Taliana then saved to a corner a shot by Falzon after a Mifsud through ball in the area, and in another Hamrun attack, substitute Ryan Muscat was fouled on the left flank and Spiteri saved the free kick shot by Grech.

In the last action before the end, Sansone served Falzon with a through ball outside the area and Taliana saved his effort with a diving save.
