In the first match played today at the National Stadium, Sliema regained the third place in the BOV Premier Championship with a 3-0 win over Hibs. The goals  were scored by Romanian Lucian Dronca who converted a penalty kick on the hour mark, Ivan Woods in the 68th minute and another by Clayton Failla in the dying minutes of the game. Sliema are now third, with 30 points, 3 more than Qormi. Both teams will play each other in their last game of the season on 4th May.

Hibernians had a number of players missing in their squad ,namely Jean Paul Farrugia, Edward Herrera, both injured and the Cauchi brothers. Mario Muscat was not in the 18 man line up either. Efforts by this website to find the reason for Muscat’s omission failed to yield any results. Hibs coach  Mark Miller was not on the bench as he began his holidays in the UK two weeks earlier than planned,  leaving the team in the good hands of Lufi for the last two seasonal commitments.
