Sliema Hotsticks 2       Young Stars    2   Umpires   Paul Brincat   Ronald  Kranjcec

Sliema Hotsticks once again showed their fighting  spirit when after going two down in two first half minutes they immediately pulled one back and equalised in the second half to share the spoils.

Young Stars started strongly and won four penalty corners in the first twenty minutes, but their pressure did not bear fruit.  Not discouraged they won another penalty corner in the 25th minute and Mark Camilleri netted his shot which took a deflection on the way.  Two minutes later he notched his second goal as a result of another penalty corner action.    Hotsticks reacted immediately and in the 28th minute Simon Baldacchino reduced the arrears scoring from a sharp angle after a well orchestrated team move.  Half time was reached with Young Stars 2 – 1 ahead.

The second half developed into a midfield battle with both teams not giving space to the opposition but Hotsticks won a penalty corner in the 50th minute and Steve Portelli converted in style to equalize.   Young Stars went back on the attack and in the 60th minute Joseph Dalli fluffed an easy chance to put them ahead.  Although they applied further pressure the final whistle sounded with the game ending with honours even.

White Hart   0     Qormi   2    Umpires    Manuel Imbroll   Shawn Mifsud

White Hart put up a spirited display and it took Qormi 60 minutes to break the duck.  They made sure of winning the game scoring their second goal in the 67th minute.

Qormi started strongly winning three penalty corners in the first 14 minutes but they could not break down the well marshalled White Hart defence.    As the game progressed, mid field play took over with tight marking being the order of the day.   Although Qormi won another two penalty corners in the 28th and 30th minute half time was reached with either team unable to open their account.

Qormi started the second half on the attack and after winning two penalty corners by the 52nd minute, the veteran Rudolph Camilleri hit the post in the 56th minute.   They continued to apply further pressure and in the 60th minute Steve Tanti netted off a Rudolph Camilleri rebound.   They pressed further and their efforts were rewarded when three minutes from time Juan Sarcia doubled their tally from another short corner action to give them a hard fought victory.
