Sirens wrap it up in first half. Marsascala remain at the top

A disastrous start for Exiles conditioned the encounter with Sirens taking the opportunity to ease away from their adversaries with a 4-0 opening session score and following up with a further 4-1 second session score and a hefty 8-1 half time advantage.

Exiles were more in the picture after the break but Sirens were still in control as they eked out a further lead on a 12-4 score.

In the final period Exiles wanted a better scoreline grabbing two quick goals.

Sirens put in Nicholas Grixti in goal and later on more youngsters went into the water. They also failed to convert a late penalty throw with Exiles making it more respectable with a further strike.

Julian Rizzo Naudi put in three goals for the losers and Sirens had Arpad Babay with a four goal tally and Csaba Kiss on three goals.

The two teams will be meeting each other in a single game for fourth place at the end of this round of play.

M’Scala M. 17 - Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 14

M’scala obtained their third seasonal victory over Ta’ Xbiex in a game in which they weathered their opponents’ good start.

But from then on, M’scala began pulling away to open up a four goal advantage before Ta’ Xbiex had a good ending just before the interval going to 6-8 behind.

After the break, the league leaders increased their lead once again despite a missed Stephen Micallef penalty. With a session to go they were 12-8 in front.

The last period was full of goals with Ta’ Xbiex making a last effort but they were thwarted by a couple of Joseph Kayes strikes as M’scala kept control of the situation.

Ta’ Xbiex played with Joe Cremona in goal and M’scala put in Brandon Muscat between the sticks in the third session. The winners had Kayes with a double hat trick and Gabor Hedegus with a poker of goals. For Ta’ Xbiex it was Laszlo Suranyi with a nap hand of goals and young Andreas Galea with a hat trick.
