Siggiewi Basketball team photo - season 2009/10 by Malcolm SammutMaltese basketball champions Siggiewi have been working hard over the past weeks to prepare their side for a gruelling season ahead. To better their chances in defending the league title they won against Athleta, Siggiewi have confirmed Marko Matijevic and also added ex-Luxol playmaker Alan Borg to their roster.

The addition of Borg, together with their key championship winning players including Adrian Micallef, Peter Shoults, Lee Ross, Jide Jetson and Emman Xuereb, will ensure that Siggiewi will be one of the top forces in basketball for next season. Peter Farrugia will once again be at the helm of the team.  Incidentally the club’s second team will also be defending the Second Division championships that they won a few months ago.

In the junior sector, Siggiewi are working on strengthening their under 20 side while also organising a basketball summer school that is being led by Karl Borg.

David Agius and Colin Schembri have also been confirmed in the club’s committe as President and Secretary respectively.
