Shooting: William Checuti wins Wenzu Vella Double Trap Selection

William Chetcuti was the overall winner of The Wenzu Vella Double Trap Selection organized by The Malta Shooting Sport Federation at Bidnija today. This event was on 150 clays Double Trap with the top six to qualify for the semi finals and the medal match on another 15 pairs each.

William Chetcuti placed 1st with 130/150 – 30/30 – 26/30

Nathan Lee Xuereb placed 2nd with 131/150 – 27/30 – 25/30

Johan Xuereb placed 3rd with 116/150 – 24/30 – 26/30

Wayne Farrugia placed 4th with 116/150 – 24/30 – 21/30

Gianluca Chetcuti placed 5th with 123/150 – 23/30

Matthew Grech placed 6th with 119/150


Double Trap Shooters William Chetcuti and Nathan Lee Xuereb will be leaving Malta tomorrow to compete in The Kuwait International Shooting Grand Prix next Thursday. They will be assisted by their coach Jimmy Bugeja.

Trap shooters Dr. James Galea and James Galea Jr. will be competing in The Trap event in Kuwait. Dr Galea will be assisted by Antione Bugeja while James Jr. will be assisted by Joe Galea. Bozidar Dimitrov will be competing in the Skeet event. MSSF President Savior Portelli and MSSF Vice President George Cassar were invited by The Kuwait Shooting Federation.




Skeet shooter Clive Farrugia made a comeback this weekend when he made it to the top podium place to win The Wenzu Vella Skeet Selection with flying colours. This event was on 125 clays skeet with the top six to qualify for the semi finals and the medal match on another 16 clays.

Clive Farrugia placed 1st with 117/125 – 14/16 – 13/16

Jason Sciberras placed 2nd with 102/125 – 12/16 – 9/16

Darren Vella placed 3rd with 115/125 – 10/16+2 – 12/16

Noel Scicluna placed 4th with 102/125 – 11/16 – 11/16

Paul Vella placed 5th with 104/16 – 10/16+1

Edwin Zammit placed 6th with 102/125 – 9/16


Class A 1st Clive Farrrugia 46/50, 2nd Paul Vella 46/50.

Class B 1st Edwin Zammit 42/50, 2nd Jason Sciberras 41/50.
